Trenton Rosenwald Middle School

“Working together, ordinary people can perform extraordinary feats.”

Trenton Rosenwald Middle School and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title 1, Part A of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high standards.

School Responsibilities

The Trenton Rosenwald Middle School will:

  1. Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that  

        enables the participating children to meet the State’s student academic achievement standards as follows:

  • Provide planned instructional lessons each day
  • Provide meaningful homework assignments for students and provide necessary assistance to parents
  • so that they can help with the assignments
  • Expect students to participate in the learning process by being engaged learners
  • Have high expectations for all students
  1. Hold parent-teacher conferences (at least annually in elementary schools) during which this compact will

        be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement.

3)    Provide parents with frequent reports (Progress reports, Report cards, IEP, TCAP) on their child’s progress.

     4)    Provide parents reasonable access to staff and the opportunity to volunteer, participate and observe in the classroom.

     5)    Provide a written school parent involvement plan for review by parents.

     6)    Stress the importance of communication with parents, school staff, and students.

Student Responsibilities:

It is important that I work to the best of my ability.  Therefore, I shall strive to do the following:

  • Attend school regularly
  • Come to school each day with pens, pencils, paper, and other necessary tools for learning
  • Complete and return homework assignments
  • Observe regular study hours
  • Conform to rules of student conduct and behavior

Parent Responsibilities:

We, as parents, will support our child’s learning in the following ways:

  • See that my child is punctual and attend school regularly
  • Support the school in the efforts to maintain proper discipline
  • Establish a time for homework and review it to see that it is completed
  • Monitor TV watching
  • Stay aware of what my child is learning and promote positive extra-curricular activities and time
  • Volunteer in my child’s classroom
  • Have high learning expectations of my child in school and make decisions relating to my child’s education
  • Attend Open House and Parent-Teacher Conferences

Statement of Goal:  It is the goal of the Trenton Special School District to provide a friendly and cooperative environment by which parents and school personnel can collaborate for the academic success of all students.
